Payroll Specialist

Atech Warehousing & Distribution is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will primarily be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 200+ employees, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies. This position is also responsible for providing ongoing support to the Human Resources department on a variety of administrative and department-related tasks.

This position is 30 hours per week to start (includes benefits), with the possibility to increase to 40 hours.

Responsibilities:
-Oversees all payroll-related functions to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries and benefits in compliance with federal and state regulations.
-Analyzes, prepares, and inputs payroll data.
-Prepares and enters garnishments and various deductions.
-Ensures all timesheets are signed and returned in a timely manner.
-Processes final checks in compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
-Stays up-to-date on changes in payroll regulations, best practices, and state/federal wage and hour laws as they pertain to payroll and the trucking industry. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
-Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures and responds to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters.
-Stays current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with Human Resources.
-Manages and updates employee benefit elections on an ongoing basis; ensures that employees have been enrolled accurately and work with insurance carriers to correct any errors; reconciles monthly insurance bills.
-Assists the Human Resources Director with various administrative tasks within the HR department as needed.
-Maintain accurate employee records and update employee information as needed
-Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
-Degree or certificate in human resources, business, accounting or related field with appropriate coursework, OR equivalent education and experience that would prepare one for the responsibilities outlined in the job description.
-Proven experience in payroll administration, with minimum of 3 years’ experience processing payroll required. Multi-state payroll experience highly desired.
-Thorough understanding of multi-state payroll laws, employment regulations, taxes, and compliance requirements. In-depth knowledge of multi-state wage and hour laws.
-Proficient with HRIS and payroll software, spreadsheets, and word processing.
-Demonstrates the ability to work independently by planning tasks, setting and meeting appropriate deadlines, and delivering results.
-Exercises acute attention to detail.
-Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively on a project team. Uses good interpersonal and communication skills to work with members of the Executive Team and Managers.
-Ability to solve problems, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and meet project deadlines.
-Strong organizational and time management skills.
-Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
-Related transportation and logistics experience preferred, but not required.
