SUMMARY:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist/HR Administrator to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will manage full-cycle payroll processing while supporting a wide range of day-to-day HR functions, helping to create a positive and seamless experience for employees. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, payroll processing, HR administration, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, recruiting, and other HR-related functions. You will work closely with the Human Resources Director to support departmental goals, ensure compliance, and contribute to the continued success of our team and organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and implement all aspects of the company’s payroll functions while ensuring accurate and timely payments for employees in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversee benefit enrollments and terminations, input ongoing benefit enrollments ensuring employees are making elections on time and updating information with carriers. Assist with reconciliations, handle annual ACA tasks, etc.
- Responsible for hiring and terminations which includes sending offer letters, running background checks, ordering pre-employment drug screens, coordinating new hire tasks, creating and maintaining employee files, processing final checks/separation paperwork, etc.
- Responsible for placing and maintaining ad postings to meet hiring objectives and improve company return on investment and retention.
- Work closely with Safety Department and HR Director to help ensure multi-state, federal and transportation-specific compliance across all aspects of the departments.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships at all organizational levels through strong interpersonal and communication skills. Field employee phone calls and emails, answer questions, provide benefit enrollment assistance, etc.
- Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll procedures and provide ongoing training, as necessary.
- Assist with Wellness program.
- Maintain high-level of business confidentiality and professionalism.
- Other related duties as necessary or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Degree or certificate in human resources or finance or related field with appropriate coursework, OR equivalent education and experience that would prepare one for the responsibilities outlined in the job description.
- 2-3 years’ HR experience, with strong expertise in multi-state payroll administration is preferred.
- Experience, knowledge, and expertise in multi-state wage and hour law.
- Proficient with the use of Microsoft office, HRIS, payroll software, and spreadsheets
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently by prioritizing tasks, meeting appropriate deadlines, problem solving, and delivering results.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships at all organizational levels through strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively on specific projects and across departments.
- Related transportation and logistics experience preferred, but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing duties of this job, would occasionally be required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
